Auburn Police Make Arrests in Homicide Investigation

On Monday, April 22, 2019, Christopher Bernard Lyles, age 48, of Auburn was arrested in obedience to a warrant charging him with murder.The arrest stems from the April 21st stabbing death of Phyllis Gulatte, age 59, in the 400 block of White Street.

Additionally, Auburn Police, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, arrested Monica Robinson Gaffney, age 49, from Auburn on a warrant charging her with Hindering Prosecution First Degree.Gaffney, an acquaintance of Lyles, was charged and arrested as it related to Lyles whereabouts.

Lyles was taken into custody by APD Detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force, after turning himself in at the Police Division.He was transported to the Lee County Jail; his bond was set at $150,000, however he remains in custody on a no bond warran
