AUBURN, Ala. – Reneisha Hobbs, an Auburn women’s basketball letter-winner and member of the 2009 SEC Championship team, has joined Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy’s staff as special assistant to the head coach, it was announced Monday.
Hobbs returns to The Plains after spending the last three years at Alabama State as an academic advisor and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor for the Hornets.
“The Auburn Family is happy to have one of its own back in the women’s basketball program,” Williams-Flournoy said. “Reneisha brings her experience as a student-athlete at Auburn to our team and will be an important part in building our players into being excellent Auburn women!”
Hobbs was part of the Tigers’ program as a player from 2006-10. She played in 58 games in the 2006-07 and 2008-09 seasons, then served as a student assistant coach as a senior. She was also named to the 2010 SEC Community Service Team.
“I am so grateful and appreciative to be back in Auburn working with Coach Flo and her phenomenal staff,” Hobbs said. “I want to thank Coach Flo and the athletic administration for providing me the opportunity to return to my alma mater, which I am so passionate about! Since Coach Flo has arrived at Auburn, she has done an exceptional job with the program, and I am extremely excited about the upcoming season and the vision she has for this year.
“Since I graduated from Auburn, my goal was always to come back and provide our student-athletes with the tools and resources to be successful. Giving back is one of the most selfless things you could ever do, so why not give back to these sensational student-athletes at Auburn? Auburn is home, and this is where I played. It can’t get any better than this!”
Prior to her stint at ASU, Hobbs spent the previous four years as a clinical lead supervisor at Alabama Mentor (therapeutic foster care agency) where she was able to use her knowledge and leadership and display the six core values of the social work profession. Alabama Mentor specialized in providing therapeutic foster care services to youth of all ages with emotional, behavioral and other complex challenges as well as their families.
Hobbs, a native of Huntsville, graduated from Auburn in 2011 with a degree in social work. She obtained her Master’s degree in 2017 from Strayer University in human resource management with a concentration in organizational leadership.
