Auburn women’s hoops announces 2019-20 non-conference schedule

AUBURN, Ala. – Five home games, two in-state road games and a strong selection of opponents in neutral-site tournaments highlight the 2019-20 Auburn women’s basketball non-conference schedule, announced today by head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy.

The Tigers will open the season with a pair of contests at home, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 6, against Wofford. The following Thursday (Nov. 14), Auburn will welcome Old Dominion to Auburn Arena.

Auburn’s other three home non-conference opponents will be St. Joseph’s (Nov. 24), Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 15) and Jacksonville State (Dec. 28).

Fans around the state will have a chance to see the Tigers in their backyard as Auburn plays a pair of road contests against in-state opponents. Auburn will travel to Birmingham to take on UAB on Thursday, Nov. 21, then head to Mobile to face South Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The Tigers will also compete in the Big 12/SEC Challenge for the third time in four seasons when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU on Saturday, Dec. 7. Auburn defeated Oklahoma in last year’s edition of the event.

Auburn will play in two neutral site tournaments, beginning with the Gulf Coast Showcase, which runs Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in Estero, Fla. Potential opponents in that tournament include Arizona State, Drake, Gonzaga, Maine, Middle Tennessee, Dayton and Purdue. The Tigers will wrap up their non-conference travel with a trip to Coral Gables, Fla., for a tournament at the University of Miami. Auburn will face Southern in the first game on Friday, Dec. 20, then take on either Miami or UNC Asheville the following day.

The Tigers went 12-1 in non-conference play last season and have won 13 straight home non-conference games dating back to the 2016-17 season. Dates, times and opponents for SEC games will be announced in the coming weeks.

Auburn returns three starters and eight letter-winners from the 2018-19 squad that went 22-10 overall, 9-7 in SEC play and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Williams-Flournoy begins her eighth season at the helm of the Auburn program, having led Auburn to NCAA appearances in three of the last four seasons.
