Bri Folds named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior midfielder Bri Folds has been named to the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.

Folds is one of seven players from the Southeastern Conference to be named to the watch list. She also becomes the third player in Auburn history to earn the recognition, joining Katy Frierson (2010-11) and Casie Ramsier (2016).

“Bri has had a tremendous career, and we are proud to see her named to this list based on what she has accomplished so far,” head coach Karen Hoppa said. “We are really excited to see what her senior year will bring.”

The Lakeland, Florida, native led Auburn with nine goals and 25 points en route to earning All-SEC, All-Southeast Region and All-American honors a season ago. She became the sixth player in program history to be named an All-American.

Six of Folds' nine goals were game-winners, which tied the program's single-season record. She played and started in 19 matches and logged 1,574 minutes of action on the pitch. Folds also ranked second on the team with seven assists.

Folds also competed for the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team at the Women's International La Manga Tournament in La Manga, Spain, earlier this year. It marked the fourth time Folds garnered a national team invite since November 2017.

Entering her senior season, Folds ranks in the top 10 in Auburn history in game-winning goals (9; 5th), shots (178; 8th) and assists (22; T-8th).

Fifteen semifinalists will be announced Dec. 3 and three finalists will be announced Dec. 13. The winner of the award will then be announced Jan. 10, 2020 at the Hermann Trophy Press Conference and Awards Banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.

Folds and the Tigers begin the 2019 season with a matchup at South Florida on Thursday, Aug. 22. The team will take on Syracuse in its home opener on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
