Auburn Player Quotes

Cody Voga

Assistant Director of Communications

Jeremiah Dinson, DB, Sr.

On bouncing back after the first drive…

“They were really going fast and we just had to settle down. Coach Steele made some adjustments and got us lined up to just play ball.”

On going up against screens…

“That’s big with the type of defensive line we have. That’s what you’re going to get from a lot of offenses. Screens, screen and go’s, a lot of quick game stuff. They did a good job executing their screens, but we rallied to the ball and did a good job tackling.”

On the importance of getting young guys playing time before SEC play…

“That was good to get some of these young guys playing time because you never know later on in the season, you might need probably two or three freshmen to step up. For those guys to get some playing time today that was good for them.”

Marlon Davidson, DE, Sr.

On getting five sacks as a team…

“I feel like we prepared well in practice and we’ve showed that we can rush the passer against our offensive line. To bring it out here and have three or four of us get sacks, it’s just fun period.

On being ready for SEC play…

“Yes, we for sure are, and I think next week we’re going to show it.”

Shaun Shivers, RB, So.

On three players rushing for 100+ yards…

“That’s how we know we can put players in. It’s good that players can make plays for that many yards to help us win.”

On SEC play starting next week…

“We just have to keep going. We have to practice well, keep pushing and play football like Auburn knows how to play football.”

On the team rushing for 467 yards…

“It feels good knowing that on offense we can run for that many yards. We are going to keep going and try to rush for more yards than that.”

Eli Stove, WR, Jr.

On running free on a deep route…

“It’s a pretty good feeling.”

On establishing the running game…

“We ran the ball really well. As we start running a lot, the passing will open up, which is what we established.”

On being 3-0 heading into SEC play with a top 20 team…

“We have to look forward to getting better throughout the week. As a receiving core, we have to work on blocking and deep balls.”

Bailey Sharp, OL, Sr.

On starting his first game…

“A dream come true. I remember when I was a little kid going to an Auburn game, I told myself one day I would play. It took a while, but five years later and to have that confidence between me and the coaches to finally go in and play. Just a dream come true that’s all I can say. Just a dream come true.”

On when he found out he was starting…

“I was practicing throughout the week and on Thursday when we usually do our walk through, I had both Coach Malzahn and Coach Grimes telling me. For the most part I just stayed locked in, stayed focused and made sure I played the game. And it didn’t really hit me until right before the game started, thinking that this is going to be amazing.”

Kam Martin, RB, Sr.

On how the team played…

“I feel like we played well. We ran the ball well. The offensive line did really well today. Overall, we played really well. We got the victory. Now it’s time to get our focus on those guys that we play next week.”

On how he feels about the team headed into SEC play…

“I feel real good. There’s still some things that we need to work on, but we’re going to get better.”

Anthony Schwartz, WR, So.

On how he feels headed into SEC play…

“I’m very confident in the team. Especially with how we played today. The offense ran the ball for over 450 yards.”

On how it feels to get back out there after the injury…

“It’s great. It’s been hard watching our team from the sidelines. Not being able to play was hard—especially against Oregon. I know my teammates have my back, and I know they were going to do what they can do.”
