At about 6:00 AM Friday, April 17, employees showing up for work at a business in the 9500 block of US Hwy 280 W, Auburn found a vehicle on fire at the entrance to the business and called 911.
When Auburn Police arrived, they found a 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup on fire in the wood line of the business entrance. Upon further inspection of the premises by officers, they discovered a body suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. The case is being treated as a homicide. The victim has been taken to the medical examiners office at the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination. The case is being investigated by the Auburn Police, Lee County Coroner, Alabama State Fire Marshall’s office, and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.
