Auburn’s Rankin Woley Named SEC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 22, 2020)-----Auburn third baseman Rankin Woley has been named the SEC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Woleyhas a 3.94 grade point average and is scheduled to graduate this summer with a degree in business administration. He was named to the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA last fall, and he is a two-time member of the Dean’s List and was named to the 2018-19 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll.Earlier this month,Woleywas named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
The senior from Atlanta led the Tigers in average, doubles and RBI and ranked second on the team in hits at season’s end. His totals in hits, doubles and RBI were good for top-three in the SEC and he was the only player in the country to rank in the top-20 in all three categories.
The SEC recognizes a Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of its 21 sponsored sports.
