A new Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opens on Sunday, April 16, at 1701 Capps Landing near Tiger 13. It marks the first Freddy’s in eastern Alabama, and the third in the state, joining locations in Hoover and Tuscaloosa. Local nonprofit Big House Foundation will receive 10 percent of sales from all regular and large size frozen custard treats sold through May 16.
“Our cooked-to-order menu items and freshly-churned frozen custard make us the perfect stop for guests who want to enjoy a quality meal or a sweet treat after watching a movie at Tiger 13,” said Nick Esterline, franchise owner. “We also hope to become a go-to dining option for shoppers from Tiger Town, guests of nearby hotels and area residents.”
The 3,010 square-foot, free-standing restaurant is developed by TGC Development Group out of Wichita, Kan., and is operated by JRI Management based in Salina, Kan. It seats 100 guests and has additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The fast-casual restaurant concept is known for its menu items of lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna beef hot dogs and crispy shoestring fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is churned fresh throughout the day.
“If you’re unfamiliar with our menu and can’t seem to decide on what to order, the Freddy’s Original Double and the Signature Turtle Sundae are a good place to start,” said Jason Ingermanson, franchise operator. “They’re both fan favorites that we like to recommend to our first-time guests.”
