OPELIKA, Ala. – Lyft, a rideshare transportation network, is now available in the City of Opelika. Riders must download the mobile app to their cell phone, sign-up with a valid phone number and enter a form of payment. At that point, a passenger can request a ride from a nearby driver. The app will then show the driver’s name, rating from other passengers and a photo of the driver and car.
“We are very excited to have Lyft operating here in Opelika. This will open the doors for economic growth and will help improve access to shopping, downtown stores and restaurants. It gives us more opportunities to showcase our city and share great events with people who live nearby,” said Mayor Gary Fuller. “Lyft is affordable and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” If someone is interested in becoming a driver, they should apply online at www.lyft.com.
