When: Friday, October 19, 2018
Time: 6 - 10 PM
Where: Downtown Opelika
South Railroad Ave
Opelika, AL
The 25th biannual "On the Tracks" wine and cheese trail will take place on October 19.
The will be 20 stops serving 18 wines, which have been curated by Ampersand Wine Bar in downtown Opelika. The wine selection will be varied and unique, so everyone can enjoy trying something new. Each wine will be paired with a cheese, which has been provided by downtown Opelika’s Cheese Please and Kroger’s Cheese Dept.
On The Tracks is an entertainment district event, so even the non-wine drinkers can grab a cocktail to-go and enjoy the festivities.
There will be a VIP area with tables, chairs and some tents located close to the band and food vendors. Each vip ticket comes with one food token and one drink token, which is good for a full pour of wine. Also, VIPs will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket which will feature a bottle of wine as well as items from some of the local shops.
There will be local food vendors set up in the streets serving small bites which can be purchased from $5 to $10.
There will be a band as well as street musicians scattered about.
One of the new features this year is that participants will be able to go to Ampersand during the event and purchase a full pour of wines that they might have liked during the tastings. They can also purchase bottles or cases of all the selections that are in the trail. Because Opelika has an entertainment district, non-wine drinkers have the ability to buy drinks in to-go cups from any of the bars or restaurants and stroll around the trail as well.
John Emerald Distillary will be offering drink samples. Red Clay and Resting Pulse Brewing Companies will be offering beer samples.
Tickets are $25 before the event, $30 the night of the event, and $40 for VIP tickets.
