Woman Tells Police She Drove Drunk To 'Teach Her Son A Lesson'

A Kentucky mother was arrested after police clocked her driving over 150 MPH while drunk with her son in the car. When Officer Brian Evans pulled over 48-year-old Sunita Jairam, she explained that she "drank a bunch of beer and got in her car to drive to teach her son a lesson."

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Jairam's son told police that he tried to open the door of his mom's BMW "due to his mother’s driving," but the door was locked. Jairam had a blood-alcohol level of .161, over twice the legal limit of .08.

Evans arrested Jairam and she is facing charges of drunken driving and endangering the welfare of a minor. This is not the first time Jairam's drinking has gotten her in trouble with the law. Court records say that she has previously faced charges of public intoxication and speeding.
