Auburn-Opelika, Ala.— Opelika’s Robert Trent Jones Grand National is hosting the AJGA Junior All-Star Tournament next week on July 6-9. The tournament is classified as part of the Junior All-Star Series and will include 78 players in a 54-hole, stroke-play event.
The four-day event will also involve a 78-player qualifier. The AJGA Qualifier Series, similar to Monday’squalifying on the PGA TOUR, is one of the main ways players get their start with the AJGA. Qualifiers give players an opportunity to play their way into each coinciding tournament and earn performance-based entry status for a future event.
“I’m excited about this big event coming to Grand National,” said Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller. “Some of the top junior golfers, boys and girls, will tee it up and compete on the Lake Course which has hosted NCAA, PGA and LPGA events over the years. Folks in Opelika and Auburn will give these players a warm welcome.”
Local support for the AJGA Junior All-Star tournament is provided by the Opelika Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Opelika, Lynch Toyota and others. To learn more, visit the AJGA website or follow @AJGAGolf on social media.
