The Auburn Police Division reminds the public to be cautious of fraudulent ticket sales when considering the purchase of second-hand tickets or selling tickets to scalpers in and around the downtown and campus areas.
With the anticipated sell-out capacity and excitement surrounding Auburn University Men’s Basketball games, the Police Division wants to remind fans of the potential increase in the number of fraudulent tickets that may be distributed by re-sellers. Additionally, some illicit ticket hawkers may attempt to buy tickets with counterfeit currency.
The only officially recognized ticket outlets are the Auburn University Ticket Office, the opposing team’s ticket office and Stub Hub. Tickets purchased from any other outlet or person is done at the buyer’s own risk. While the City of Auburn does license ticket scalpers that operate in the city, this does not validate the authenticity of the tickets being sold. The Auburn University Ticket Office is the only authority to validate ticket authenticity.
