2 Arrested in Thursday burglaries in Auburn

On Thursday, February 2, 2017 the Auburn Police Division arrested Travis Demond Vickerstaff, age 20 and Melike Deshawn Philpot age 19, both from Auburn on warrants charging them each with burglary 3rd degree and fleeing & attempting to elude police.  

 

At about 1:30 p.m. Auburn Police received a burglary in progress call at a residence in the 200 block of E Drake Avenue.  Responding officers were given the description of two black males seen forcing entry into the back door of a residence.  When officers arrived on the scene they observed two individuals that matched the description, flee on foot.  Officers immediately pursued the suspects and after a brief chase, they were taken into custody and identified as the black males seen unlawfully entering the victim’s residence. 

 

Further investigation by Auburn Police resulted in both suspects being charged with burglary 3rd degree and fleeing & attempting to elude police.  Vickerstaff received additional charges of resisting arrest and assault third degree. There were no serious injuries reported during the incident and no property was taken from the residence.  

 

Vickerstaff and Philpot were both transported to the Lee County Jail. Vickerstaff remains in custody on a $7,500 bond, while Philpot is being held on a $6,000 bond.
