Man arrested for Kidnapping in Auburn

On February 21, 2017, the Auburn Police Division arrested David R.  Brewer II, age 35 from Auburn on warrants charging him with Kidnapping  Second Degree, Assault Third Degree, and Reckless Endangerment.

On  Saturday, February 18th at approximately 4:00 p.m. Auburn Police  responded to assist paramedics in reference to an unresponsive female in  a vehicle in the parking in the 1600 block of Opelika Road.  The 27  year old female was treated on the scene by AFD and EMS paramedics and  transported by ambulance to EAMC Emergency Room.  The victim was treated  for dehydration, minor bruises and abrasions and later released.

Further  investigation of the incident by Auburn Police determined that Brewer  and the victim both worked at a restaurant in the 1600 block of Opelika  Road.  Detectives determined, through the recovery of video surveillance  footage, that Brewer was responsible for taking the incapacitated  victim from the business after it is was closed during the early morning  hours of February 18th, placing her into his vehicle and leaving with  her.  The victim was discovered hours later inside of her locked vehicle  in a nearby parking lot, still incapacitated and suffering from  dehydration, minor bruises and abrasions. Warrants were obtained on  Brewer charging him with Kidnapping Second Degree, Assault Third Degree,  and Reckless Endangerment. He was located at his residence in Auburn  and taken into custody.  The case remains under investigation and  additional charges are possible.

Brewer was transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held a $27,000 bond.
