AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn All-American javelin throwers Kylee Carter won a gold medal for Team USA at the North American, Central American, & Caribbean (NACAC) U23 Championships, in Queretaro, Mexico, this past weekend.
Carter won the event with a best mark of 54.48m/180-2, defeating USA teammate and Stanford thrower Jenna Gray, by just over three feet. The win was Carter’s eighth in 10 events she competed in during the 2019 outdoor season. A Beauregard, Ala., product, Carter was the NCAA Outdoor Championships runner up and SEC Champion this spring.
Auburn rising junior Cade Antonucci, also competing at the meet for the USA Track & Field team, was fourth in the men’s javelin with a best mark of 68.37m/224-3. The 68.37m toss was the two-time NCAA Championship participant’s third best throw of the 2019 outdoor season.
Carter will compete later in July at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, July 25-28 in Des Moines, Iowa.
