Frontline Features Series Continues (photo file attached)
Continuing our Frontline Features series, this week we spoke with Austin Bayles, manager of Emergency Medical Services at EAMC. His story is availablehereand is the second of an ongoing series to share first-hand experiences of our EAMC heroes.
Social Distancing Reminder
We believe that social distancing in the east Alabama region has improved over the past few days, but remind everyone thatwe need EVERYONE practicing social distancing for it to be effective. Otherwise, the virus continues to spread perpetually and the “stay at home” order will have to continue. We ask all members of the community to adhere closely to these guidelines to help protect themselves, their families, and save lives. EAMC asks area residents to shelter in place at home. That means staying at home with immediate family members only and not leaving your home except for essential activities such as food, medical care, or work. If you have to leave your home, you should maintain a 6-foot distance from other people, wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds each time, and frequently disinfect high-touch surfaces. We also encourage residents to wear a mask at the store or anywhere they will be in close proximity to someone not in their household.
Updated Supplies Needed and How to Donate
While we are currently stable in the number of ventilators, supplies, and other equipment, we still could use help with certain items. Businesses with access to the items listed below who wish to donate them may bring them to the collection site outside of EAMC’s Main Lobby between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. each weekday. An EAMC representative will be there to collect the supplies.
  • Industrial-grade bleach wipes (must specify that they kill C. difficile spores) (photo attached)
  • Latex-free gloves: exam, nitrile
  • Isolation gowns: non-sterile, impervious
  • Masks: surgical, procedure, ear loop, ear loop with face shield, or fog-free procedure mask
528-SICK Hotline
Our 334-528-SICK screening hotline is open 24 hours a day, but we only schedule testing between 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Specimen collection will continue daily at HealthPlus and at EAMC-Lanier, but is based on available supplies. As a reminder, appointments can only be made through the 334-528-SICK hotline. For more information about when to seek screening, visit eamc.org/coronavirus.
