On 04/25/2020 at approximately 6:50 PM, the Opelika Police Department and the Opelika Fire Department responded to a single car crash at the Intersection of Sportsplex Parkway and Andrews Road. Upon arrival, officers located one car off the roadway. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment for their injuries. The driver succumbed to those injuries at approximately 9:30 PM and was pronounced dead in the Emergency Room. The crash is under investigation by the Opelika Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
