EAMC Update on COVID-19: June 30th

COVID-19 HOSPITALIZATION UPDATE
The last week of June has seen an increase in hospitalizations of patients with COVID-19, but we end the month at 22 which is about average for the whole month. One aspect of the graph that catches the eye is the increase in the number of pending COVID-19 cases. However, that’s due in part to a shortage of rapid result tests, meaning some results were taking 2-3 days instead of less than 24 hours. Those supplies have been replenished for now, but occasional shortages are possible in the future.

Michael Roberts, M.D., EAMC’s chief of staff, joined Auburn Mayor Ron Anders and Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller in asking for the public’s help in social distancing, washing of hands and wearing a mask when out in public settings where social distancing cannot be guaranteed.
