Coach Caleb Ross has been named the new Head Football Coach at Opelika High School. Ross comes to Opelika from McGill-Toolen to become Opelika’s 19th Head Football Coach. Ross is taking over following the departure by Coach Brian Blackmon who accepted a position at Auburn University back in February.
At McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile Ross led the Yellow Jackets to two 7A State title games and one 7A State Championship in 2015. Ross compiled a record of 30-8 in three seasons as head coach at McGill-Toolen.
Prior to Coaching at McGill-Toolen, Ross spent time as the Offensive Coordinator at Spanish Fort in 2012, Head Coach at Thompson High School in 2011, and five years as an assistant at his Alma Mater Prattville High School from 2006-2010. He also spent four years coaching at Clinton High School in Mississippi. Ross has been a part of Five State Championship teams-three at Prattville, one at Spanish Fort, and one at McGill-Toolen.
His Collegiate playing career included two years at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and Samford University in Birmingham. He played High School Football at Prattville High School from 1994-1996. There he was Selected as All-Metro, All-County, and Chosen to play in the Alabama Mississippi All-Star Game after his senior season.
Ross has a degree in History from Samford University, and is nearly complete with his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Troy University. Ross is 37 years old and married to the former Ms. Amy Yeargan from Prattville, AL. They have two children a 2 year old girl named Rebecca Clair and 8 week old baby boy named Jack.

Caleb Ross named new head football coach at Opelika High School
Opelika, AL—Caleb Ross has been named the new head football coach at Opelika High School. Coach Ross has been Head Football Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, AL since 2014. As head coach at McGill-Toolen, Coach Ross led his team to the 7A State Championship games in both 2015 and 2016. The 2015 team won the 7A State Championship and the 2016 team finished as 7A State Runner-Up.
Ross began his coaching career in Clinton, MS in 2002. He then moved to Prattville High School to coach the running backs (2006-2007) and then was named as the Offensive Coordinator (2008-2010). In 2011, Ross was named head football coach at Thompson High School. From 2012-2013, Ross was Offensive Coordinator at Spanish Fort High School until taking the Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach position at McGill-Toolen High School in 2013.

Coach Ross, a native of Prattville, AL, graduated from Samford University in 2002. He and his wife Amy have two children ages 2 and 8 weeks.
