Pitcher of the Week: Casey Mize, Auburn
Auburn’s Casey Mize turned in the ninth no-hitter in Auburn history and the fourth individual no-hitter in the SEC in the last 22 seasons in the Tigers’ 6-0 win over Northeastern. It was the first Auburn no-hitter since 2002. He struck out a career high 13 batters, marking the most by an Auburn pitcher since Jon Luke Jacobs also struck out 13 in 2012. Mize did not issue a walk in a start for the sixth time since the start of last season. The lone Northeastern baserunner reached on a fielding miscue in the fourth inning. Mize struck out the side in his first inning of work and retired the first 10 batters he faced – six via the strikeout.
